My Review
The Eufy Smart Scale P2 Pro is the value pick in smart scales, and a genuinely good one. At $99, down from a $119 recommended retail price (RRP), it gives you full body-composition tracking for well under half the price of a Withings, and for most people that is more than enough scale.
It measures weight, body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, water and your body mass index (BMI), syncing to the EufyLife app over Bluetooth. The tempered-glass top looks the part, setup is quick, and the app is clean and easy to read. The trade-off against pricier scales is Bluetooth rather than WiFi syncing, so you do need to open the app nearby, and a slightly looser accuracy spec.
What the RefDat test lab found
For the money it performs well. Weight readings are consistent to within about 200 grams, a touch looser than the premium scales but perfectly fine for tracking a trend at home. The body-composition figures come from bioelectrical impedance, the same method everything in this class uses, so read them as a direction of travel rather than clinical numbers, well short of a DEXA scan. The Bluetooth sync is reliable once you have the app open, and the app itself is refreshingly simple.
What owners actually report
Owners on Whirlpool and OzBargain repeatedly flag it as the smart-money scale, praising the price and the surprisingly complete feature set. The recurring watch-outs are the Bluetooth-only syncing, which means you have to open the app rather than having readings appear automatically, and the AAA batteries that need swapping every month or two with regular use. The 200-gram accuracy gets the occasional mention from precision-focused users. For a sub-$100 scale, satisfaction runs high.
Who should skip it? If you want hands-off WiFi syncing and the tightest accuracy, the Withings Body+ is worth the extra. For full body-composition tracking on a budget, the P2 Pro is hard to beat.
You will find it at JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks. OzBargain catches 10 to 20 per cent off during health and fitness sales.
Australian Consumer Law (ACL): a smart scale at $99 should reasonably last 3 to 5 years, with the consumer guarantees realistically covering around 2, beyond the 1-year warranty. If it will not power on, refuses to pair or the load sensor stops responding in that window, you have a claim. Flat batteries are your responsibility, but the electronics and sensors are covered. Take it to your retailer.
Bottom line: full body-composition tracking for under $100, with only Bluetooth syncing and slightly looser accuracy as the compromises. Highly recommended on value. Step up to Withings if you want WiFi and precision. RefDat score 4.4 out of 5.
