My Review
Breville's the Fast Slow Pro is the premium slow cooker. $349-449 for a machine that slow-cooks and fast-cooks simultaneously.
6L stainless steel pot. Pressure cook function for fast meal preparation. Slow cook function for traditional braising overnight. Browning function to sear meat before cooking. Three cooking modes in one appliance.
2400W heating power. Temperature control from 40°C to 180°C. Digital display, digital controls, no mechanical dials. Preset programs for meat, poultry, vegetables, beans, rice.
Pressure cook is genuinely useful on hot Australian days when you don't want the oven heating the kitchen to unbearable temperatures. Beef stew that traditionally takes 4 hours slow-cooks in 45 minutes under pressure. Tested: meat tender, flavors developed properly, not rushed or undercooked.
Slow cook function is traditional. Low 85°C, medium 100°C, high 130°C. Overnight cooking is possible, set the timer and sleep through the cook cycle.
Browning function uses the pot as a stovetop. Sear meat, then switch to pressure or slow cook mode. Genuinely useful, eliminates separate pan washing.
Build quality is Breville. Australian brand, Melbourne headquarters. Parts available through Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi. 2-year warranty covers heating elements and pressure seals.
Footprint is large. 30cm wide, 28cm deep, 35cm tall. Requires dedicated counter space or storage in a lower cupboard.
Pot is stainless steel, removable, dishwasher-safe. Heating element is immersed, so cleaning is easy. Seal ring should be hand-washed carefully.
Control panel is digital. Buttons and display. No app, no smart features. Reliability is high.
Warranty is 2 years covering pressure vessel integrity and electrical components.
Downsides: Premium price. Large footprint. Pressure cooking requires understanding pressure safety.
Useful for: People who want pressure cooking and slow cooking options. Hot climate cooking (pressure avoids heating the kitchen).
Find at JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Myer, and Breville Australia.
Tested pressure cooking delivered consistent results. Seal integrity remained excellent throughout testing. Digital controls responded reliably without glitches. Heating elements maintained stable temperature. Community feedback from Whirlpool forums is very positive. Australian Breville support through Harvey Norman is responsive. Many users report using these for 3-5 years without issues. Pressure cooking times are faster than traditional slow cookers, useful for hot climates.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law: At $349-449, this cooker should last 5-7 years with normal use. Pressure seal failure, heating element problems, or digital display malfunction within two years are defects. Your consumer guarantee covers replacement or repair regardless of Breville's 2-year warranty. Pressure vessel integrity is a safety issue, return to retailer immediately if sealing fails.Checking ingredients for gluten? Our gluten database covers common slow cooker staples.
